PHILADELPHIA- The course at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. was no match for the Owls' squad as the Temple men's cross country team picked up their second consecutive team win on Friday morning. The Owls took home six of the top-10 positions to give themselves a comfortable win. This was the first big test of the season for the men, and they proved ready for the challenge.

From The Coach
  • "I'm really happy with how the guys raced today. We were able to control the front of the race while staying controlled and patient, so we had something left for the finish," said Coach Cavender Salvadori. "Liem had a huge race today… Would have loved to take home the individual title in addition to the team title, but I won't get greedy!"
From The Players
  • "Today was the first real competition of the season and it was nice to get the win. We could have worked through as a group a little better but getting as many top-10 finishes as we did is always a good thing," said senior Joe Arthur. "This is only the beginning, and I'm excited to see where we are heading."
  • "Overall it was an impressive win. The guys fought hard, even though we don't have much speed, and considering how tired we are at this point of the season," said freshman Liem Chot.
Owls Dominate
  • Temple saw six runners finish in the top-10 placements at the Iona Meet of Champions.
  • Senior Arthur led the Owls with a third-place finish and a time of 25:26.6 minutes.
  • Freshman Jeppe Risvig and Liem Chot finished with times of 25:45.0 and 25:47.4 minutes that placed them fourth and  sixth in the race, respectively.
  • Rounding out the top-10 were Christian Fitch, Tyler Fauvelle, and Erik Kain who posted times of 26:03.8, 26:03.9, and 26:06.5 minutes.
Race Notes
  • Temple raced amongst 13 schools at Van Cortlandt Park, including nationally ranked host Iona.
  • The Owls took home first place, with Johns Hopkins and Connecticut State rounding out the top three.
Up Next
  • The Owls will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 1, when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to compete in the Paul Short Invitational.
