Women’s Soccer Set to Host Drexel This Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer (1-3-3, 0-1-0 AAC) returns home to welcome nearby Drexel (4-2-1, 0-0-0 CAA) for the start of a three game homestand on Sunday, Sept. 19. The match is set for 1 p.m. at the Temple Sports Complex and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

The Owls

Temple women's soccer dropped to 1-3-3 (0-1-0 AAC) after falling to Memphis, 4-0 in the American Athletic Conference opener on Thursday night.
The Owls are led offensively by Emily Kavanaugh, Hailey Gutowski and Lexy Endres. Kavanaugh has posted two goals on the season for four points, while Gutowski and Endres follow close behind, each recording three points on the year. Gutowski has recorded one goal and one assist, while Endres has dished out three assists.
Kamryn Stablein remains a force in goal for the Cherry and White recording 37 saves and a .771 save percentage.
Hailey Gutowski picked up her first weekly award of the season, and fourth of her career after being named to AAC Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Sept. 13. The junior forward netted one goal and added an assist in the 3-0 shutout over Saint Joseph's.

Scouting Drexel

With seven games under their belt in 2021, the Dragons enter the match 4-2-1 (0-0-0 CAA), facing a recent 4-0 loss to No. 16 Rutgers.
Drexel is led by sophomore Delaney Lappin, recording three goals on the season to lead the Dragons in points, with six. Melissa Lyon and Gabrielle Perotto trail close behind, each netting two goals.
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Miyuki Schoyen returns in goal for the Dragons, tallying 27 saves and a .771 save percentage.
Last year, the Dragons went 3-4-1 (1-2-1 CAA) picking up their only conference win in a 1-0 shutout over Towson.

Series History

The Owls are 8-6-1 all time against the Dragons with the teams' last meeting coming in the 2016 season opener. The Owls fell to the Dragons, 2-1, in their first game at the newly built Temple Sports Complex.
