THIS WEEK
Temple looks to bounce back this week after suffering its second loss of the season last Saturday. This week, the Owls are in front of their fans for the second week in a row when Wagner comes to Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff is set for 12:00pm and will air on ESPN+ and 97.5 The Fanatic.
Temple hasn't played back-to-back home games since Rod Carey's first two games as the Owls head coach. To start the 2019 season, Temple beat Bucknell 56-12 and #21 Maryland 20-17.
LAST WEEK
The Temple Owls suffered their second loss of the season, falling to Boston College by a score of 28-3. A slow start to the game found the Owls down 14-0 after the first quarter. Another touchdown towards the end of the second quarter put Temple in a 21-point hole going into the break. From there, the Cherry & White were unable to mount enough offense to cut into the Eagles' lead. True freshman quarterback Justin Lynch made the second start of his career as quarterback D'Wan Mathis remained sidelined with injury. Wide receiver Jadan Blue led the team with 40 receiving yards which moved him into 13th place all-time in school history (1,558).
LAST TIME VS. WAGNER
This is the first time that these schools have played against each other.
LAST TIME VS. FCS OPPONENT
The last time that the Cherry & White lined up against an FCS opponent was back in 2019 when Temple opened its season against the Bucknell Bison. The Owls started off the 2019 season hot with a dominant 56-12 win. The Owls broke the single-season record for yards in a game with 695 total yards on offense and didn't allow a touchdown on defense. It was the largest opening day margin of victory (44 points) since 1969 at Rhode Island when the Owls beat the Rams 47-3. The game marked the most passing yards as a team in school school history (507) as well as the first career touchdown catch for Blue.
UP NEXT
Up next, Temple's home stretch continues as the Owls host the Memphis Tigers for Homecoming. The game marks the beginning of Temple's conference play for the 2021 campaign. Kickoff is set for 12:00pm and is set to air on ESPNU.
