Golf to Take Part in Wolfpack Intercollegiate This Weekend

Raleigh, N.C. – Temple Golf travels back to the state of North Carolina for the third time in two weeks, this time to take part in the 15-team Wolfpack Intercollegiate this Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 15-16). It marks the first time the Owls have competed in this tournament, which is hosted by N.C. State on its 7,282-yard, par-72 Lonnie Poole Golf Course, since 2016.
Previewing the Tournament
> Conor McGrath, who shot a six-under par 207 at the Phoenix Invitational earlier this week, leads Temple with a 70.18 stroke average. The senior co-captain has been at-or-below par in eight of his 11 rounds this season and shot a season-best five-under 66 in the third round of the Phoenix Invitational on Tuesday.
> Fellow co-captain Graham Chase is coming off his best tournament as a collegiate golfer, shooting an eight-under 205 to tie for fourth at the Phoenix Invitational. The sophomore golfer recorded his career-best round, a six-under 65, in the second round of the tournament Monday and boasts a 71.18 stroke average for the season.
> Ethan Whitney, who won his first collegiate tournament (Cornell & Temple Fall Invite) earlier this season, follows closely behind with a 71.45 stroke average.
> Andrew Curran (74.27) and Joey Morganti (75.63) will round out the Temple starters.
The Field
> Host NC State will look to defend its title against a strong field that includes the following schools: Bellarmine, East Carolina, Elon, Jacksonville, James Madison, Lipscomb, Miami (OH), Richmond, Temple, Texas Southern, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, UT Chattanooga and Western Carolina.
> The Owls are paired with Jacksonville and UNC Wilmington for the first day, teeing off in shotgun start from holes 14-16 at 8:30 am Saturday for the first of two rounds.
> Sunday's final round will start from holes one and 10 beginning at 8 a.m. The order will be determined by the standings following Saturday's play.
