Gawronski and Haufglockner earn Weekly Honors, Karani Takes Honor Roll

IRVING, Texas- After securing their first conference win of the season with a 1-0 victory at FAU, goalkeeper Eoin Gawronski, defender Rocco Haufglockner, and forward Sean Karani have been honored by the American Athletic Conference. Gawronski claimed AAC Goalkeeper of the Week, Haufglocker has earned Rookie of the Week, while Karani was named to the Weekly Honor Roll. For Gawronski, this is the second time he has been honored by the conference this season. This marks the first time Haufglocker has earned a collegiate honor in his young career. For Karani, it is the first time he has been honored since April of 2021 after missing all of last season with an injury.
Gawronski quickly returned to form in the season opener. The keeper earned his sixth career clean sheet in only 20 starts against FAU, turning away five shots during the match. Gawronski ranks sixth in the nation in saves per match (5.75). Haufglocker played a career-high 86 minutes in an impressive performance. He made possibly the most impactful play of the match, forcing the turnover that led to the game-winning goal while also earning an assist on the play. Karani was the one to bury the game winner, with perfect placement on a bottom left corner shot to beat the keeper.
The Owls will be back home with two home games this week. They first take on non-conference foe Stony Brook on Tuesday before moving on to No. 24 Tulsa on Saturday. Attendance to both matches is free to all fans, the matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
