Women’s Soccer Set to Travel to South Florida Thursday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer (1-8-4, 0-5-0 AAC) is set to travel to Tampa, Fla., on Thursday, Oct. 20 to face off against South Florida (7-6-0, 4-1-0 AAC) at Corbett Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

History
The matchup between the Owls and the Bulls serves as the tenth time the teams have met in program history with an all-time record of 1-8-0. The teams last meeting came in 2021 where No. 23 South Florida defeated Temple, 2-0 at the Temple Sports Complex in the final game of the regular season.
The Owls
- In the Owls most recent matchup, the Cherry and White fell to Memphis, 2-0 at the Temple Sports Complex. Despite the loss, Kyla Burns had a standout performance for the Owls, grabbing nine saves, which proved to be enough to earn a spot on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll.
- Katie Coritz and Carly Steinberg continue to lead the team in the goal category, each netting two apiece on the year for a team-high four points. Steinberg and Coritz netted goals against LIU, with Coritz recording a brace to help lead the Owls to the 5-0 win. Steinberg added her second of the year against Cincinnati, converting in the 60th minute off a corner.
- Phoebe Hollin has been a driving force in the Owls goal scoring efforts, dishing out three assists, all of which came on the corner to lead the team in the helper category and tie for fifth in assists in the American.
- Burns has been a consistent piece to the defense, grabbing 75 saves to lead the conference by an 18-save margin as of Oct. 18. With Burns 75 saves, she has also recorded a .773 save percentage, the second highest in the American.
Scouting the Bulls
- South Florida enters the matchup with a 7-6-0 record (4-1-1 AAC), currently on a four-game winning streak, each of which have been over conference opponents. The Bulls only conference loss came in the conference opener on Sept. 15, dropping to Houston, 2-1 after the Cougars netted the 83rd minute game winner.
- The Bulls are led by sophomore Chiara Hahn, a 2020 AAC First-Team and All-Rookie selection. Hahn has headlined the scoring efforts, netting five goals and adding one assist for a team-leading 11 points. Hahn's five goals ties for third in the American, while her 11 points ties for fourth.
- Junior Lucy Roberts trails close behind, netting three goals and adding one assist. In total, South Florida has had 10 student-athletes contribute at least one goal this season.
- South Florida has relied on senior Sydney Martinez in goal, starting all 12 games this season to record 44 saves for a .746 save percentage.
- Last year, the Bulls posted a 12-4-3 record which included a 6-1-1 conference showing, falling to Memphis in the AAC Championship in penalty kicks. The Bulls still received a bid to the NCAA Tournament, but fell to NC State, 2-0 in the first round.
