Wei and Uchijima Named AAC Athletes of Month

IRVING, Texas – After an incredible run at the ITA Fall National Championship, the doubles pair of Jamie Wei and Maiko Uchijima were named AAC Athletes of the Month, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Wei and Uchijima started their historic run at the ITA Northeast Regional Tournament, securing three wins to earn a spot in the quarterfinals and earn the bid to the ITA Super Regional Tournament. At Super Regionals, Wei and Uchijima continued their success, winning four straight matches to clinch the ITA Super Regionals Doubles Title, a prestigious honor. With this win, the pair punched their ticket to Nationals, traveling to San Diego to compete against the top 32 teams in the nation.
The pair found success yet again, downing the No. 3 doubles pair in the nation from Wake Forest in the first round in straight sets, followed by a victory over Texas Tech in the Round of 16 to earn a quarterfinals appearance. Despite a tough battle, the Owls journey came to an end in the quarterfinals, dropping to a highly competitive Michigan duo.
