Owls Gymnastics Picked to Finish Tied for 2nd in 2023 EAGL Preseason Poll

WEIRTON, W.V. – To begin its third season of East Atlantic Gymnastics League competition, the Temple Owls gymnastics team was picked by the league's coaches to finish tied for second in 2023.
"Tied for second is the highest that Temple has been polled in the EAGL conference since we joined in 2021. The EAGL conference is extremely competitive with all eight teams having the ability to win the championship." said head coach Josh Nilson. "For us to be voted tied for second by our peers is a testament of how far the program has come. We are prepared and excited to make the 2023 season another record breaking year for Temple Gymnastics. It's a great day to be an Owl!"
The Owls jumped from an EAGL preseason ranking of fifth in 2021 to tied for third in 2022.
North Carolina was the EAGL coaches' top pick as they received 48 points and one first place vote. In second place with Temple is NC State, also receiving a first-place vote. Following UNC, Temple, and NC State in fourth place is Towson who garnered 43 points with one first-place vote. The only school to receive two first-place votes was 2022 EAGL Champions, George Washington, who was picked fifth with 42 points. Rounding this year's EAGL preseason poll is Pitt and New Hampshire tied for sixth place with 25 points, while LIU follows in eighth place with 13 points.
The Owls will get their season underway on January 6 at 7 p.m. ET as they travel to Fitzgerald Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh, Pa. to compete in the second annual Keystone Classic against Penn State, Penn, and the host Pitt.

The Owls will be on display this Friday, Dec. 16 inside McGonigle Hall for the Holiday Instrasquad, starting at 4 p.m. ET. Attendance for the exhibition event will be free.
