Women’s Basketball to Play Final Big 5 Game of the Season at Penn

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team (4-5, 0-0 AAC) will head to University City to face Penn (5-5, 0-0 IVY) as its fourth and final Big 5 opponent this season. Both Penn and Temple fell to Saint Joseph's and Villanova but took down La Salle in city play. The winner of this game will finish third in the Big 5 final standings.
LAST TIME OUT: La Salle 56, @ Temple 70
> Temple nearly led from wire-to-wire, jumping out to 21-10 lead at the conclusion of the first quarter.
> La Salle made a late push, tying things up at 50 early in the fourth. The Owls responded with a 15-0 run to secure their first Big 5 win of the season.
> Wing Tiarra East had the best game of her career. The sophomore scored a career-high 25 points, while adding nine rebounds and also picking up a career-high in steals with five. Guard Jasha Clinton earned a double-double in points and rebounds.

> Aleah Nelson headlines for the Owls. Nelson is a proven scorer, with 967 career points. She is only 33 points away from scoring her 1,000th point. > Kayla Padilla is a player to watch. The senior guard has been named Ivy League Player of the Week four times, most recently last month. She leads the team in scoring (14.4 ppg), assists (3.6 apg) and is third in rebounds (5.7 rpg).
> Mike McLaughlin has won his entire career. He has a 623-203 (.704) record in his career. McLaughlin had seven straight 20 win seasons from 2013-2020 and has had four straight NCAA Tournament appearances at Penn.
