Gourdine Notches Triple-Double As Temple Downs Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – The Temple women's basketball team (12-10, 7-4 AAC) got back in the win column on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Tulsa Golden Hurricane behind a triple-double performance from Aniya Gourdine. After a defensive battle in the opening minutes of the contest, the Owls took control in the second quarter to an eight-point lead into the half, a lead that they would not relinquish.
The win gave Head Coach Tonya Cardoza her 250th career win.

First Quarter: Temple 15, Tulsa 9
> The first five minutes of the quarter was a defensive battle as the two sides combines for only four total points.
> A three-point basket from Tiarra East got the Owls into an offensive rhythm midway through the quarter.
> Two late turnovers led to five straight points for Tulsa including a three-pointer from Wyvette Mayberry to end the quarter.
Second Quarter: Temple 36, Tulsa 28
> A steal and a layup at the other end followed by a three-point basket from Gourdine contributed to five quick points for the Owls.
> Directly after, Williamson scored five straight points for TU to extend their lead into double-digits.
> After a brief scoring run from the Golden Hurricane, Emani Mayo drilled a three-pointer to keep Temple in front.
Third Quarter: Temple 58, Tulsa 44
> A three-pointer from Caranda Perea bookended by two baskets from Williamson stretched the Temple lead to 16.
> A 10-2 run for Tulsa in the next few minutes brought the Golden Hurricane back within striking distance.
> Buckets from Gourdine and Jalynn Holmes brought the Temple lead back to 14.
Fourth Quarter: Temple 73, Tulsa 58
> 11 fourth quarter points for Davis gave the Owls a commanding lead for the rest of the contest.
> Gourdine recorded her 10th assist in the closing minutes to achieve a triple-double.
