Women's Basketball Hosts AAC Leaders UCF on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA -Â The Temple women's basketball team is back in action for a Saturday afternoon matchup against the UCF Knights on Feb. 19 at 2:00pm. The game is scheduled to air on ESPN+.
The game will feature an "Ode to the Office" theme which will consist of various giveaways and contests centered around the TV show The Office. In addition, during the game, former alumni from the Temple women's basketball program will be honored on the court.
In accordance with the City of Philadelphia lifting its vaccine mandate for indoor sporting events, fans attending the game will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination.
LAST GAME
> The Temple women's basketball team got back in the win column on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Tulsa Golden Hurricane behind a triple-double performance from Aniya Gourdine.Â
> After a defensive battle in the opening minutes of the contest, the Owls took control in the second quarter to an eight-point lead into the half, a lead that they would not relinquish.
> The win gave Head Coach Tonya Cardoza her 250th career win.
> Gourdine: 11 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists
> Mia Davis: 21 points
> Alexa Williamson: 14 points, six rebounds
THE OWLS
> Temple comes into Saturday's matchup coming off its best shooting performance of the season which saw the Owls knock down 52.0% of its shots.
> Davis leads the scoring for the Owls once again as she is averaging 18.9 points per game which leads the conference.
> Gourdine has been enjoying a splendid freshman season thus far. Gourdine has earned AAC Freshman of the Week honors five times, and is coming off two triple-double performances in her last three games.
> The Owls have been getting a lot of production from freshman this season as Gourdine along with fellow freshmen Tiarra East and Kyra Wood have started multiple games for Temple.
SCOUTING UCF
> The Knights enter the matchup having won their past seven games, one of which was against the Owls on Jan. 31.
> UCF boasts one of the best defenses in the entire country as the Knights are only allowing 49.3 points per game, which is the second-best mark in the country.
> Guard Diamond Battles leads the attack for the Knights. Battles averages 14.2 points per game and 3.6 assists per game, both of which lead the team.
LAST TIME THEY MET
>Â The last time these two teams met was a few weeks ago when Temple dropped a road contest to the UCF Knights, 64-55.
> Up by two points midway through the fourth quarter, the Knights went on a 15-2 run to go up by double-digits with a few minutes and coasted the rest of the way for the victory.
> Davis: team-high 20 points and six rebounds
> Williamson: 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds
> Gourdine: 11 points and eight rebounds
