Women's Basketball Drops Home Finale to Tulane

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team (12-13, 7-7 AAC) suffered its third consecutive loss on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Tulane Green Wave (20-7, 11-4 AAC) by the score of 71-56. After trailing for the majority of the first half, the Owls got off to a hot start to begin the second half, as they took the lead with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter. However, poor shooting by Temple down the strecth allowed the Green Wave to regain the lead and hold on for the win.

> Mia Davis: game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds on 9-16 shooting
> Emani Mayo: 10 points and five rebounds
First Quarter: Temple 14, Tulane 15
> Aniya Gourdine started the scoring for Temple with a steal and a fast-break layup before Tulane went on a 7-0 run.
> The Owls answered back with a 9-0 run thanks to an and-one basket by Davis.
> TU received the majority of their scoring output from Davis (5) and Gourdine (4) in the period.
Second Quarter: Temple 27, Tulane 34
> There was a back-and-forth battle to start the quarter, as Davis scored the first three points for the Owls.
> The Green Wave made six straight shots, as they went on a 10-2 run which forced a Temple timeout.
> The Owls spread the scoring around in the period as five different Temple players scored a basket.
Third Quarter: Temple 46, Tulane 52
> The Cherry and White got off to a hot start after halftime with a 7-0 run, as the first five points in the period were scored by Davis.
> The Owls drained their only three-point baskets of the game, which were made by Gourdine and Davis.
> The last four minutes of the third quarter belonged to Tulane, as they went on a 10-4 run to end the period.
> Davis led the team in the quarter with 11 points.
Fourth Quarter: Temple 56, Tulane 71
> Tulane continued to stay hot at the beginning of the fourth quarter as two three-point baskets contributed to a 10-2 run, which gave the Green Wave a 14-point lead.
> Temple played good defense in the middle of the period, as Tulane did not score a point in a four-minute stretch (0-6 FGs).
> The Owls struggled offensively in the final period, as they shot 11.1% from the field.
