No. 18 Lacrosse Heads South to Face Kennesaw State

PHILADELPHIA- The No. 18 Temple lacrosse team (3-1) takes a trip to Georgia this week to face the Kennesaw State Owls (2-2) Wednesday. This will be the first time Temple lacrosse has ever competed in the state of Georgia. The 3 pm showdown will be streamed on the Kennesaw State Owls YouTube channel.
LAST TIME OUT
> Temple fell to then No. 11 Princeton 14-10 on Saturday. The match was close all the way through, with eight ties and four lead changes before Princeton scored the final four goals.
> Mastropietro put together another complete performance against the Tigers. She scored three goals and passed for two assists. She also dominated the draw circle with a game-high seven controls.
> Abaigeal Ryan scored her second career hat trick in the return to her hometown of Princeton, N.J.
> Goalkeeper Annie Carroll racked up 10 saves.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
> Temple has moved up two spots in the IWLCA/Inside Lacrosse Poll for the second straight week. The Owls check-in at No. 18, their highest ranking since the NCAA began tracking poll history in 2009.                      Â
> Quinn Nicolai has made noise on the national level this season. She is tied for 14th in the nation in goals per game (4.0) and is ranked 18th in the Statistical Tewaaraton advanced metric rankings. Nicolai is also tied for 3rd the AAC lead in ground balls per game (2.5). She was awarded AAC Midfielder of the Week for the week of 2/21 and was runner-up to Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week.
> Belle Mastropietro has been living up to her Preseason Midfielder of the Year billing. She is third in the conference in goals per game (14) and is tied for third in draw controls per game (4.75). She has scored a hat-trick in three out of the four games Temple has played this season, the only one she did not score a hat-trick was a two-goal performance where she left early due to injury.
> Katie Shallow has been a star on the defensive side of the field. The sophomore is tied for the AAC lead in ground balls per game (2.75) and is second in caused turnovers per game (2.00).
> Mackenzie Roth is playing some of her best lacrosse so far this season. She scored two goals and passed for two assists against Princeton. She ranks third in the American with two assists per game and is tenth in points per game (3.25).

> Kennesaw State added lacrosse for the 2013 season.
> The Owls are 2-2 this season, with wins over Oregon and Winthrop. KSU also faced off against American reigning champion Florida. They fell to the Gators 22-7.
> Kennesaw State is coached by Laura Maness. Maness has been a women's lacrosse head coach for 14 seasons, with an 83-128 record. She has been at Kennesaw State since 2017. She owns a 33-46 record in six seasons.
> Siena Gore leads the Owls on the field. Gore was named a preseason All-ASUN selection for the fourth straight season. Last season, Gore was eighth in the NCAA in goals (47) and fourth in goals per game (4.79). Another top player for Kennesaw State is Payton Gregory. The senior defender was also named preseason All-ASUN after being named an All-Conference selection last season.
