Men’s Tennis Set for Three-Match Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's tennis (6-4) is set for an action-packed weekend, as they play three consecutive road matches beginning on Mar. 25. The Owls will kick-off the weekend against Hampton (2-10) on Friday at 1 p.m., followed by a trip to Norfolk, Va., on Saturday and Sunday. The Owls will face off against No. 60 Old Dominion (10-5) on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by a Sunday matchup at Norfolk State (0-6) at 1 p.m.

- The Owls enter the match with a 6-4 record, most recently earning a win over Delaware. Temple dropped the doubles point to the Blue Hens, but quickly answered back in singles play, racking up points from the first four positions to close out the day with the 4-3 victory.
- Temple is led by Thibault Frumholz in singles play, who has compiled a 7-3 record split between the number four, five, and six positions.
- Marin Delmas has played primarily at the No. 1 position in both doubles and singles play, earning a 5-2 record in singles and 4-2 record in doubles with partner Louis Gorregues.
- Gorregues had added two additional wins in doubles play, along with one loss, with Frumholz and Hussein El-Tawil for a total doubles record of 6-3 to lead the team.
- The Pirates enter the match with a 2-10 record, going 0-6 in conference play with their only wins coming over Norfolk State and Randolph-Macon College in mid-March.
- Ange-Kevin Koua and Donte Armbrister have played consistently in the No. 1 spot for the Pirates, with Koua also serving as the No. 1 singles player.
- Last year, the Pirates did not compete in competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The squad last saw action in the 2019-20 season where they posted a 4-7 record before COVID-19 sparked the nationwide cancellation of collegiate sports.
- The Monarchs enter the match sitting at No. 60 in the ITA national team rankings, being ranked as high as No. 43 on Mar. 2.
- One of the Monarchs most notable wins came on Feb. 26 as they downed No. 60, Furman, 4-0.
- Of Old Dominions five losses, two came to highly ranked opponents, including No. 1 Tennessee, 4-0 and No. 49 Penn, 4-3.
- Luca Maldoner and Francois La Tallec have split time in the No. 1 singles spot, with Maldoner posting a 4-0 mark and La Tallec a 3-4 mark.
- Last year the Monarchs advanced to the Conference USA Championship, falling to No. 44 Middle Tennessee, 4-1.
- The Spartans enter the match 0-6, most recently falling to Coppin State, 4-3 in their most competitive showing of the season.
- Of Norfolk States six losses, three have come in conference play to Coppin State, Howard, and Morgan State.
- Last year, the Monarchs posted an 8-5 record, advancing to the second round of the MEAC tournament before falling to South Carolina State, 4-0.
