Lacrosse Rallies from Early Deficit to Defeat Monmouth, 13-10

seas paWEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Temple lacrosse team (7-3) earned its second consecutive victory Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Monmouth Hawks (5-4) 13-10. Temple trailed 5-1 in the second quarter, before rattling off seven unanswered goals to take a lead they never gave up.
Recapping the Game
> Monmouth scored the first three goals of the game.
> Belle Mastropietro sunk a free position chance to put Temple on the board before the first quarter expired (3-1).
> The Hawks scored the first two goals of the second quarter to go up 5-1.
> Quinn Nicolai scored to begin an onslaught for the Cherry and White.
> Maeve Tobin, Riley McGowan, and Mackenzie Roth all scored in a span of two minutes to tie the game at five.
> Roth, Julie Schickling, and Abaigeal Ryan scored the next bunch to give Temple an 8-5 lead going into halftime.
> The teams traded goals throughout the third quarter, with both sides scoring three. Nicolai, Schickling, and Roth found the back of the net for the Owls. Camryn Zavacky and Mastropietro assisted (11-8).
> Temple came out in the final frame gunning. Nicolai and Ryan scored to give Temple its largest lead of the game (13-8).
> Monmouth attempted a rally, but it was too little, too late for the Hawks. The Owls took the game by a final tally of 13-10.

> Katie Shallow had a stellar day. She picked up a career-high seven ground balls, caused a season-high five turnovers, and controlled a career-high six draws.
> Roth set a new season-high with three goals. She also passed for an assist to add to her team-leading 23 on the year. The attacker set a new career-high with three caused turnovers.
> Nicolai tied for the team lead with three goals, she also picked up three ground balls.
