Crew Takes Home Two Gold Medals in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Temple Men's Varsity 8 and Second Varsity 8 both won gold medals Friday in races against the University of San Diego and the University of California San Diego on Mission Bay.
"The Second 8 had one of their best pieces of the year," said head coach Brian Perkins. "They started fast and never let up. That was fun to watch! The First 8 had some mechanical issues so I'm very proud of their ability to stay calm and persevere against some very aggressive opposition. This whole trip has been curve ball after unexpected curve ball. The squad has shown great maturity and calm to reach their goal of victory on Mission Bay."

VARSITY EIGHT
- Won the gold medal with a time of 5:57.09. The Owls finished .8 seconds ahead of UCSD and six seconds ahead of USD.
- Raced to a time of 6:09.3 and took home the gold medal. The Owls held a competitive lead over the rest of the field, with UCSD clocking in at 6:23.5 and USD finishing in at 6:25.56
