Track and Field Contends at Larry Ellis Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Temple track and field team earned a few personal-bests over the two-day meet as the team competed at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Meet Highlights (Larry Ellis Invitational):
A few Owls contended in their respective events on Friday afternoon, but it was long jumper Tannekee Strachan who took the headlines as she jumped to a mark of 5.79m to take second place.
In the 1,500m run, junior Laura Nicholson ran to a personal-best 4:23.05, taking eighth place. A few races later, Cat Shontz and Emily Schuler competed in the 5,000m run.
The next day, in the 4x100 relay, the Cherry & White's team of Chelby Elam, Jewel Ofotan, Christal Pommells, and Chidumga Nkulume sprinted to its fastest time of the outdoor season, posting a time of 47.05.
Later on, in the preliminary round of the 100m hurdles, junior Sophia Gulotti posted a personal-best of 15.03 seconds. Removing the hurdles, Chelby Elam sprinted to a personal-best in the 100m dash with a time of 12.02 seconds, placing in the top-10. Also placing in the top-10, Kwanda Knight ran to a personal-best time of 1:03.03 in the 400m hurdles.
Rounding out the day, Elam, Marissa White, Mary Olayinka Ilelaboye, and Knight ran to a time of 3:52.30 in the 4x400m relay to post Temple's fastest time of the season in the event.

The Owls continue their outdoor season with a trip to Charlottesville, Va. to compete in the Virginia Challenge on April 22-23.
