Golf Opens Play at 2022 AAC Championship Friday

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – After a second-place finish at the Yale Spring Invitational last weekend, the Temple golf team will open play Friday at the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championship (April 22-24). The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be held at the Southern Hills Plantation Club on a par-72, 7,274-yard course.
Previewing the Owls
> Junior co-captain Conor McGrath leads the Owls with a 71.77 stroke average. He has a team-best 17 rounds at or below par, including five Top 10 finishes this season.
> Sophomore Graham Chase ranks second on the team with a 73.23 stroke average. He is coming off consecutive Top 10 finishes, tying for fifth at Princeton and placing eighth at Yale.
> Senior co-captain Dawson Anders (73.55) is third for the Cherry and White. He has been playing his best golf of the season in the last two tournaments, with a season-best three-under 210 at Princeton.
> Freshman Ethan Whitney (74.13) ranks fourth on the team and is coming off his best finish of the spring season, tying for ninth overall at the Yale Spring Invitational.
> Freshman Joey Morganti (75.38), who had a team-high seven birdies in the Yale Spring Invitational, rounds out the Owls five-man squad at the Championship.

> Nine teams from the American will play in the tournament, including Cincinnati, ECU, Houston, Memphis, SMU, USF, UCF, and Wichita State.
> USF enters the American Men's Golf Championship slotted 42nd in the latest GolfStat team rankings on April 19 to pace the conference. SMU (43) is also ranked in the team top 50 entering the AAC Men's Golf Championship.
> USF's Albin Bergstrom is the current top-ranked individual in the American, entering the American Men's Championship slotted 21st in the latest GolfStat rankings. SMU's Noah Goodwin (62) is the other AAC player among the top 100.
