Women’s Tennis Downs Drexel 5-2 on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's tennis (10-4) triumphed over city foe, Drexel (3-11), 5-2 on Friday morning. The match served as senior day for the Cherry and White, where Yining Tian, Stefaniya Surikova and Rine Nozaki were recognized for their accomplishments as Owls.

"It was a great day for Temple women's tennis," head coach Steve Mauro said. "We recognized three student-athletes for senior day and I am very honored to have been able to coach them throughout their time here. They've made great contributions to our team and the Temple community and have shown success not only on the court, but in the classroom as well."

The Owls will return to action tomorrow, Apr. 9 at 11 a.m. as they travel across the city, to face off against Villanova.
Notes
- The Owls earned the early lead after securing wins from the No. 1 and No. 2 positions in doubles play. The pairings of Surikova and Jamie Wei along with Sena Takebe and Evie Wei had prominent victories, both dominating 6-1.
- The Owls did not break stride as they entered singles play, securing the first four points of singles play from the No. 6, 2, 5 and 4 positions to come away with the 5-2 win.
