Conor McGrath Named to 2022 PING all-Northeast Region Team

5.28.22 | Men's Golf

PHILADELPHIA – For the second straight year junior Conor McGrath has been named to the Division I PING all-Northeast Region team.  The teams from the six regions were selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

McGrath led Temple with a 71.88 stroke average over 34 rounds.  The Huntingdon Valley, Pa. native had a team-high 19 rounds at or below par during the season, including 11 rounds in the 60s.  His best round was a career-best five-under 67 at the GolfWeek Fall Challenge.

He also posted four top five finishes, including three second-place showings.  His best tournament was at the GolfWeek Fall Challenge where he set Temple school records for best sub-par score (203) for 72 holes and best sub-par score (-13), which was four strokes better than the previous mark (-9) held by Trey Wren (2018) and Brandon Matthews (2013).  Besides the GolfWeek Fall Challenge, McGrath also was runner-up at the Cornell Invitational where he helped the Owls to the team title and the Princeton Invitational.

McGrath's selection to the 2022 team marks the third time in four years that Temple has had golfers earn Ping All-Region honors.  In 2019, the Owls' John Barone and Trey Wren, were both named to the all-Region team while McGrath was also selected to the 2021 team.
