6.14.22 | General
PHILADELPHIA – After a one-year hiatus, the NCAA released its four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Temple Athletics again excelled in this measuring tool for success in the classroom.
Temple posted a 992 multiyear APR which is tied for 10th nationally among FBS institutions. Also, TU is one of 10 FBS institutions to post a score at 990 or above in each of the past five years that the metric was released publicly by the NCAA. The other institutions to accomplish this feat are Arizona State, Duke, Michigan, Minnesota, Navy, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Rice, and Vanderbilt.
"Congratulations to our student-athletes on this amazing academic success," said Temple University Vice President and Director of Athletics Arthur Johnson. "I also want to thank Senior Associate AD Justin Miller and his academic staff in the Nancy and Donald Resnick Center for their amazing work with our student-athletes. It is through their hard work, as well as our coaches' commitment to academics, that this success is possible."
Four Temple programs earned perfect 1000 APR scores: Field Hockey, Men's Basketball, Women's Lacrosse and Women's Soccer. Since 2013-14, 42 Owl teams have earned perfect 1000 APR scores, which ties for 12th among all FBS schools.
Temple men's basketball is one of only eight FBS institutions and one of 20 among all 357 NCAA Division I programs with a perfect APR score. It is also the fourth consecutive 1000 APR score for Temple men's basketball and the Owls join Belmont, Columbia and Villanova as the only Division I schools to accomplish this feat.
Finally, Temple Football ranked 16th among all FBS institutions with a 987 multiyear APR score. Temple Football's is one of 17 FBS institutions with an APR score at 980 or above for the last four years that the data has been publicly released.
