Three Coaches Added to Strength and Conditioning Staff

PHILADELPHIA – Temple University's Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance Tim Teefy has announced the addition of three new strength and conditioning coaches, Rashan Chanyothi, Kristen Cole and Zach Purcilly, to his staff.
"We are excited to welcome Rashan, Kristen and Zach to our Temple coaching staff," said Teefy. "All three bring a wealth of experience and will fit in nicely with our mission of maximizing the performance of our student-athletes."
Chanyothi, who will oversee the strength and conditioning programs for Field Hockey, Crew, and Men's Tennis, served as an assistant sports performance coach at Georgetown last year, working directly with Field Hockey, Women's Rowing, Track & Field (Men's XC & Sprinters/Jumpers), along with serving as the assistant for Football and Men's Lacrosse. Prior to Georgetown, he was a full-time intern strength and conditioning coach at Army West Point (2020-2021). He also was a performance and sports science graduate intern at Pittsburgh while obtaining his master's degree in sports science ('20).
Chanyothi, who earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Temple in the program's exercise and sports science concentration in 2017, originally started his career in strength and conditioning at Platoon Fitness and Overachieves Sports & Speed (2017-2019). The Huntingdon Valley, Pa. native holds certifications from the National Strength & Conditioning Association (CSCS), USA Weightlifting (USAW-L1), and Functional Range Systems (FRCms).
Cole, who will oversee the strength and conditioning programs for Volleyball, Golf, Men's and Women's Cross Country, comes to Temple after spending the past two years at Stony Brook, starting as an intern in August 2020 before being promoted to an assistant athletic performance coach in February 2021. There she worked specifically with football, men's and women's track and field, women's swimming and diving and women's volleyball.
The Long Island, N.Y. native worked as a student intern at the University of Delaware while earning her bachelor's degree in exercise science with a minor in strength and conditioning in 2020. She also owns a master's degree in liberal studies with a concentration in coaching from Stony Brook (2022). She is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA and is CPR/AED certified through the American Red Cross.
Purcilly, who will oversee the strength and conditioning programs for Men's Soccer, Women's Track & Field and Women's Tennis, comes to Temple after working the past year as an Olympic strength and conditioning fellow at Michigan, with his primary responsibility to assist with the design and implementation of strength training and conditioning for 21 Olympic sports. He also developed and implemented training programs for the Wolverines Volleyball volunteer assistant coach who plays professionally for Athletes Unlimited while assisting with the training of a former Wolverine now professional Hammer/Weight thrower.
The Troy, Mich. native, who earned his bachelor's ('18) and master's ('19) degrees in exercise science and exercise physiology from Eastern Michigan, also served as the head strength and conditioning coach for Ann Arbor Huron High School from 2020-2021. He is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist as well as a USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach.
