Gawronski Earns AAC Goalkeeper of the Week; Kouemi Named to Honor Roll

IRVING, Texas- After opening the season with a 1-0 victory over Lehigh, goalkeeper Eoin Gawronski and forward Yann Kouemi have been honored by the American Athletic Conference in the first set of awards of the season. Gawronski claimed AAC Goalkeeper of the Week while Kouemi was named to the Weekly Honor Roll. For Gawronski, this is the fourth straight week he has been honored by the conference while seeing action. He earned conference honors for the first three weeks of 2021 before missing the rest of the season with an injury. This is the first time Kouemi has been honored by the AAC as this was his first week in Cherry and White.
Gawronski quickly returned to form in the season opener. The keeper earned his fifth career clean sheet in only 13 starts against Lehigh, turning away five shots during the match. Gawronski is one of two keepers in the American that has not allowed a goal this season and is tied for the conference lead in saves per match (5).
Kouemi scored the game-winning goal in the sixth minute. This was the first goal since the 2019 season when he was at Mount St. Mary's, he was the leading goal scorer for the Mount (9 goals). He was awarded NEC Offensive Player of the Week five times during the 2019 campaign.
Temple (1-0-0) will be back in action tonight at 7 p.m. as they host BIG EAST opponent Seton Hall (1-0-0). The match will be streamed on ESPN+, admission is free to all spectators.
