Elyad Shojaei, Draven Barnett Earn Philly Soccer Six Weekly Honors

8.30.22 | Men's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA- After opening the season with a 1-0 victory over Lehigh, defender Elyad Shojaei and freshman midfielder Draven Barnett honored as Philadelphia Soccer Six defender and rookie of the week, respectively, for the week of 8/22. The match Monday against Seton Hall was not considered due to starting after 5pm.

Shojaei was a defensive force the entire match against Lehigh. The Tehran native played 86 minutes and made multiple impressive tackles. He also blocked a handful of shots, and had possibly the best play of the match with a goal line clearance/team save in the 23rd minute to keep to lead in the possession of the Owls.

Barnett played a full 90 for Temple. While he didn't record any stats, the Missouri native dazzled with great handling in the midfield and was one of only three Owls to play the entire match (including goalkeeper Eoin Gawronski).

Temple (1-0-1) will hit the road for the first time this season as they head down to DC to face No. 19 Georgetown. The 4 p.m. match will be streamed on FloSports.
