Temple to Host Penn in Philly Soccer Six Tilt

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's soccer team (1-1-1, 0-0-0 AAC) will return home on Labor Day to square off against Philadelphia Soccer Six rival Penn (1-0-0, 0-0-0 Ivy League). This will be the Owls' only Philly Soccer Six match of the season. Attendance is free to all fans and will stream on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
> Temple suffered its first loss of the season, falling at No. 19/9 Georgetown 5-2 on Friday.
> The Hoyas scored all three goals of the first half to go into the break with a 3-0 lead. Temple rallied with two goals in three minutes to trim the deficit, before conceding two goals in the last 13 minutes as the Owls were forced to push for a late score.
> Captain Mike Eijgendaal scored on a PK after being fouled in the box. Yann Kouemi scored the other goal for the Cherry and White. His score was assisted by Eijgendaal
> Three Owls saw their first action of the season in Lawrence Kwazema, George Medill, and Guy Panzner.
THE OWL POST
> Eijgendaal has been dynamic on offense thus far in 2022. The former Second Team All-AAC forward is tied for the AAC lead and is tied for 7th in the nation in assists. He has dished out three helpers on three of Temple's four goals, with Eijgendaal also scoring the fourth.
> Yann Kouemi is tied for 8th in the American in goals scored with two.
> Goalkeeper Eoin Gawronski is among the best shot-stoppers in the American. He ranks 1st in the conference in saves per match with 7 and is also the leader in total saves with 21. Nationally, he ranks 14th in total saves.
> Tonight is Pride Night for the Cherry and White, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community at Temple.
SCOUTING PENN
> In 2021, the Quakers earned a 7-6-1 record. This was their second straight winning season. Penn has only played one game so far in 2022, defeating Rider 2-1.
> Penn was picked to finish fifth in a talented Ivy League.
> The Quakers return some key players from last season. Including, First Team All-Ivy League, Philadelphia Soccer Six Rookie of the Year and Soccer Six All-Star team selection Leo Burney, and Ivy League Honorable Mention, and Soccer Six All-Star pick Stas Korzeniowski.
> Brian Gill is at the helm for Penn in his 5th year and 4th season due to the Ivy not competing in 2020. Gill has a 20-16-13 record as the head coach in University City. Prior to his time with the Quakers, Gill was an assistant at national powerhouse Georgetown.

> This is the 40th all-time meeting between Temple and Penn. Penn is Temple's 12th most played opponent all-time and least played opponent in the Soccer Six.
