Women’s Basketball Heads to New Orleans to Battle Tulane

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team (7-11, 2-4 AAC) will head down to New Orleans to face the Tulane Green Wave (13-7, 3-4 AAC). This will be Temple's fourth road game in its last six. The Owls will be looking to snap a three-game skid.
LAST TIME OUT: Temple 53 @ Memphis 64
> Temple fell to the Memphis Tigers on Saturday. The Owls were ahead most of the first half, with the Tigers taking the lead on the buzzer beater at the end of the second quarter.
> The Tigers held a 35-31 lead in the 3rd before jumping out on a 9-0 run to go up 44-31. Memphis never looked back.
> Point guard Aleah Nelson led all scorers with 16 points. She went 11-13 from the line and added six rebounds.
THE OWLS
> Nelson leads the Owls in scoring (14.9 ppg) and assists (4.0 apg). She has scored in double-figures in five of the last six games. Her six rebounds last time out are tied for her second most this season.
> Tiarra East leads the team in rebounding (6.0 rpg) and is putting up 10.8 points per contest. The wing ranks fourth in the American in free throw percentage (.800).
> Caranda Perea has found her groove as of late. The forward has grabbed at least five rebounds in each of the last three games, including a career-high eight boards last game against Memphis. She is averaging 6.6 ppg in her last three games, tied for her best scoring stretch of the season.
> Shooting guard Tarriyonna Gary is playing some her best ball of the season. After three straight games in single digits, she is averaging 15 points per game in the last two. On the season, Gary is putting up 9.1 ppg and 3.4 rpg.
SCOUTING TULANE
> Tulane is enjoying a recent resurgence after missing the postseason in three straight years. The Green Wave has gone to the second round of the WNIT in back-to-back seasons.
> The squad is 13-7 this season and 3-4 in conference. After starting the season 0-3 in AAC play, Tulane has won three of its last four with the lone loss coming against powerhouse South Florida. Tulane is 73 in the NET, third amongst AAC teams.
> Marta Galic and Rachel Hakes are players of note for the Green Wave. Galic leads the team in both points (13.9 ppg) and rebounds (7.2 rpg). Hakes leads the AAC in assists (5.3 apg).
> Lisa Stockton leads Tulane in her 29th season in New Orleans. During her time with the program, she led The Green Wave to 20 postseasons and has been Coach of the Year in three different conferences. She is 637-344 in her career.
SERIES HISTORY
> Temple and Tulane have played each other every season since Temple joined the AAC in 2013. The Owls are 6-8 all time against The Green Wave.
> The key feature of the series has been streaks. Temple won six of the first seven matchups between the two, but the Owls have dropped the last seven straight.
