Track & Field to Compete in Dr. Sanders Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's track and field team returns to New York City this Friday and Saturday for the second of three straight trips to The Big Apple. TU will compete in the Dr. Sanders Invitational at Columbia.
Last Time Out
> Allie Riches set the program indoor record for the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.75, besting the previous program best of 3.73 set in 2010.
> Chelby Elam earned her way to the finals with a time of 7.75 in the 60m. She finished sixth in the finals.
> Elvira Bredin set a personal best in the mile with a time of 5:02, finishing in eighth place.
Previewing the Owls
> Temple will be well represented in the 60m dash with four runners. Elam will look to keep her hot streak going in the event, she will be running alongside Lauren Greig, Jewel Ofotan, and Madison Trout.
> Fiona Carter, will competing in the 200m with Elam, Greig, Ofotan, Trout, and Marissa White. The six Owls running are the most in any individual event. Carter is also the lone TU representative in the 60m hurdles.
> A trio of Temple runners will be competing in the 400m circuit. Kwanda Knight, Chidumga Nkulume, and Marissa White will be representing North Broad.
> Four TU athletes will be competing in the distance events. Elvira Bredin will be running in the 800m. Molly Demarzo and Laura Nicholson will compete in the mile. Finally, Catherine Shontz will run in the 5000m dash.
> In the field events, Nicole Castor will compete in the High Jump alongside Jaaliyah Evans and Amira Green. Carter, Allyson Metzger, and Trout will be competing in the long jump.
> Riches and Tannkee Strachan both have their sights set on another record breaking day in the Pole Vault and Triple Jump, respectively.
> White, Nklulume, Knight, Trout, and Elam will be running the 4x400m relay.
