PHILADELPHIA — The Temple Women's Rowing team officially announced its leadership group and team captain for the 2023-24 season.
The Owls will be led by team captain Madelyn Fox, a junior from Margate City, New Jersey. Fox raced on Temple's Second Varsity 4 and Varsity 4 boats last season, including racing with the Owls' Varsity 4 boat that placed fourth at the 2023 American Athletic Conference Championships.
Joining Fox on Temple's leadership group are Giselle Kiriacos, Maggie Page, Niamh Kiely, and Chloe McHugh-Freedenberg. Kiriacos is back for her third year on the team's leadership board, while Page, Kiely, and McHugh-Freedenberg are first-year members
"Led by captain Madelyn Fox, these are women and teammates who have played a vital role in shaping our culture of high performance over the past few seasons," Temple Head Coach Rebecca Grzybowski said. "The experience, perspective, and skills that they bring as a unit will be a key piece to achieving our big picture goals."
"Madelyn, Chloe, Maggie, Giselle & Niamh, have a clear vision of where we are headed and what needs to be done in pursuit of our team goals," Grzybowski said. "I can't wait to see how they make their mark and lead the team into a new era of growth and speed."
Temple began its fall season with a scrimmage against Rutgers on Oct. 7. The Owls are set to compete at the Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River on Oct. 15.
