PHILADELPHIA - Juan Zepeda led five Owls who were named to the Philly Soccer Six all-star teams on Monday. Zepeda, who was named the city's Rookie of the Year and was a unanimous All-Rookie team selection, was joined by Felix Ewald (All-Star), and three other All-Rookie selections: Elias Betancourt, Lukas Egarter, and Jayden Jackson.
Zepeda, who was also named to the American Athletic Conference's All-Rookie and Second Teams, scored three goals and dished a pair of assists in his freshman season. Seven of his eight points came during AAC play, and he ranked second on the team in goals, assists, points, and shots.
Ewald also added to his accolades in his first season in the Cherry and White. The All-AAC Second Team selection led the Owls with seven goals, five assists, and 19 total points. He earned Philly Soccer Six Player of the Week honors on October 10 and posted multi-goal games against FAU on October 4 and Tulsa on October 27.
Betancourt played in 14 games in his rookie year, scoring twice and dishing two assists. He recorded a freshman career high three points with a goal and assist vs. Tulsa. Egarter was a mainstay in the middle for the Owls, starting all 15 games. The only Temple freshman to play in every game, he ranked fourth on the team with 1046 minutes played. Jackson played in ten matches, starting five, and posted his first full 90 in just his second career match at Lehigh on August 28.
