BY THE NUMBERS
- Hysier Miller led the Owls with 18 in the game. He connected on four threes and added five rebounds and two assists.
- Jahlil White scored 13, hitting 9-of-12 at the line. It is the highest free throw total by a Temple player this season and the most since he connected for 10 against Tulane in the final regular season contest last year.
- Steve Settle III delivered 11 in the contest with a block and a steal. Sam Hofman netted six with five rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Temple got off to a good start as a three by Miller and a driving layup by White put the Owls on top 5-0 less than two minutes in. Shortly thereafter, Nevada found its footing and TU went cold as the Wolfpack went on a 13-2 run, opening a six-point lead at the 11:55 mark.
- Undaunted, the Owls went on a run of their own, connecting on three triples, coming from Settle, Miller and Shane Dezonie, as a 12-4 spurt in a span of less than four minutes put Temple on top 19-17. After some back-and-forth play, the Wolfpack had the next run, scoring eight in a row before a three by Hofman cut into the Nevada advantage. A buzzer beating jumper from Quante Berry pulled the score to a seven-point deficit at the half.
- Opening the second stanza, the Owls clawed closer as a steal and score that led to an old fashioned three-point play from Settle made it 35-31. Nevada responded by scoring 10 in a row.
- The teams traded baskets through the remainder of the game to create the final score.
