Men’s Basketball Snaps Four-Game Skid with a 76-53 win over Tulsa

PHILADELPHIA – Redshirt sophomore Damian Dunn helped Temple celebrate Hooter the Owl's Birthday Sunday afternoon in style. The Temple guard scored 15 of his game-high 24 points to lead Temple over Tulsa, 76-53. With the win, the Owls snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to 15-13, 9-6 in AAC play. The Golden Hurricane lost its eighth straight, falling to 5-21, 1-14.
Dunn made nine-of-13 from the field, including four-of-five from three. Hysier Miller and Kur Jongkuch each added 11 points. Miller also added nine assists while Kur Jongkuch matched his season-high with eight points.
It was a balanced scoring attack for the Owls as six players tallied eight or more points in the game.
Sam Griffin (16 points) and Tim Dalger (15) led Tulsa.
First Half
> Trailing 15-11 after eight minutes, Temple scored 10 straight points, the last a three by Zach Hicks, to take a 21-15 lead.
> After Tulsa cut the margin to four, 23-19, the Owls scored six straight with a hook shot by Jamille Reynolds giving Temple its first double-digit lead of the game (29-19).
> A Dunn three-pointer with 2:37 on the clock extended the margin to 12 (34-22), but Dalger scored six points in an 8-2 Golden Hurricane run to cut the lead to six with just over a minute to play.
> Miller would make one of two free throws to extend the margin to seven, 37-30, at the break.
Second Half
> The teams traded baskets until Dunn scored eight straight points, including consecutive threes, to extend Temple's seven-point lead to 15 (61-46) with just under 10 minutes to play.
> Two minutes later the Owls would do it again, scoring eight straight with Dunn tallying five, to break the game open, 69-48, with 5:36 to play.
> Temple would extend its lead to a high of 26 (74-68) on a Nick Jourdain three with just under four minutes to play.
> Walk-on Ryan Sayers, who was awarded a scholarship earlier in the week, would see the floor for the first time. He played the final two minutes and grabbed a rebound.

> The Owls out-rebounded the Golden Hurricane, 35-23, with four players (Jungkuch, Jourdain, Zach Hicks and Jahlil White) pulling down six rebounds.
> Redshirt sophomore guard Khalif Battle was not with the team due to personal reasons.
