3.5.23 | Women's Basketball
IRVING, Texas - The American Athletic Conference has announced that Temple women's basketball guard Aleah Nelson was named second team All-Conference, as voted on by league coaches. This marks the continuation of at least one Owl earning all-conference honors in each season since joining the American in 2013-14. At least one Temple women's basketball player has been named All-Conference in the AAC/Atlantic-10 every season since 2000.
Nelson earned second team honors after averaging 15.2 points per game and 4.4 assists per game throughout the season, both of which led the team and placed her sixth and third in the American, respectively. The Baltimore, Md. native finished the season ranked fifth in three pointers per game (2.3) and eighth in free throw percentage (.789). Nelson reached double figures in 23 of Temple's 28 contests, including a standout 33-point performance against Duquesne on Dec. 16, tied for the fourth most of any player in the American this season. She also became the 26th Owl to reach the 1000 marker against the Dukes.
The Owls begin their conference tournament on Monday, March 6 against Wichita State at 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
