Lacrosse Set to Travel to Marist Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple lacrosse (4-2, 0-0 AAC) is set to travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to face off against Marist (2-2, 0-0 MAAC) on Wednesday, Mar. 8 at Tenney Stadium. First draw is set for 4 p.m.

The matchup between Temple and Marist marks just the second time the teams' have met in program history, with an all-time record of 1-0. The Owls and the Red Foxes last met in 2007, where Temple prevailed 17-4 at home.

- Temple advanced to 4-2 (0-0 AAC) on the season after posting a 13-10 win over city rival, Saint Joseph's on Saturday at Howarth Field.
- Mackenzie Roth earned her first Weekly Honor Roll of 2023 after leading the Owls offensive efforts against the Hawks. The senior posted five points on three goals and two assists, while also scooping up two groundballs and causing two turnovers. Roth advanced to 19 points on the yea to sit at second on the team point leaderboard.
- Belle Mastropietro continues to lead the team in both points (24), goals (18), and draw controls (41). Her 41 draw controls places second on the conference leaderboard, while her 18 goals tie for fourth in goals per game (3.00).
- Amelia Wright has had a breakout sophomore season after returning from injury in 2022. The Roswell, Ga., native has contributed 12 points on eight goals and four assists, which included a three-goal, one assist performance in the most recent win over the Hawks.
- Camryn Zavacky, Charessa Crosse, Maeve Tobin, and Julie Schickling have rounded out the offensive unit with consistent contributions, each registering eight points on the year for the Cherry and White.
- Taylor Grollman has assumed the primary role of goalie for the Owls, recording 29 saves and a 8.80 GAA. Her 8.80 GAA ranks third in the conference and 25th nationally.
- The Temple defense has been a force to be reckoned with, only allowing for 9.19 goals per game, ranking 23rd nationally in scoring defense. Katie Shallow and Maddie Barber have headlined these efforts, combining for 21 caused turnovers and 36 groundballs as a pair.
- Marist enters the matchup with a 2-2 record, most recently posting a 14-12 win over Hofstra, their first win over the nonconference contender in program history.
- Kelly Trotta and Delaney Hayes were instrumental in the win over the Pride, each netting four goals and adding an assist for a combined ten points. Trotta remains the team point leader (20), on 15 goals and five assists, while also leading the MAAC in in goals per game (3.75) and points per game (5.00).
- Trailing close behind is senior Kerri Gutenberger, with 16 points on 14 goals and two assists.
- Junior Miranda Lopes has served as the primary goalie for the Red Foxes, posting 34 saves for a .410 save percentage.
- Prior to the win over Hofstra, Marist defeated Merrimack, 16-12 after falling in their first two matchups of the season against Bucknell (17-12) and Army (21-5).
- Last year, Marist posted a 3-13 record which included a 1-7 conference slate. The Red Foxes posted wins over LIU, Merrimack and Iona.
