Lacrosse to Host City Rival Drexel Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple lacrosse (5-7, 0-3 AAC) is set to host crosstown rival Drexel (8-4, 2-2 CAA) on Wednesday, Apr. 12 at Howarth Field. First draw is set for 5 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Series History vs. Drexel
The matchup between Temple and Drexel marks just the fifth time the teams' have met in program history, with an all-time record of 1-3. The Cherry and White last fell to the Dragons in 2021, 19-11. Prior to 2021, Temple had not matched up against the crosstown rival since 1996, where they defeated the Dragons 20-0.
Scouting Temple
- The Owls added to their extremely competitive schedule on Saturday, Apr. 8 after facing off against No. 9 Florida in their third conference test. The Cherry and White put up an impressive fight, but ultimately dropped 17-13. This marks the fifth competitor the Owls have seen either in the top 25 or receiving votes. Teams include Ohio State (RV), No. 17 Princeton, No. 16 Yale, and No. 5 JMU.
- Mackenzie Roth led the Owls offensive production against the Gators, posting five points on three goals and two assists, in which she earned Weekly Honors from the conference for her performance. The senior now moves to 33 points on the year (17g, 16a).
- Belle Mastropietro has shined in multiple statistical categories, including the draw control. With a game-high seven against Florida, she sits at 76 on the season for second in draw controls per game in the conference (6.33) and 20th nationally.
- Aside from her draw control performance, Mastropietro also leads the team in goals (29) and points (44). Her 3.67 points per game ranks sixth in the conference.
- Amelia Wright, Camryn Zavacky, Julie Schickling and Maeve Tobin have added heavily to the offensive production, combining for 77 points securing 22, 21, 19 and 15 respectively.
- Junior Katie Shallow continues to lead the defensive unit, picking up 35 ground balls and causing 19 turnovers. Her 35 ground balls rank fourth in the conference with 2.92 per game and 22nd nationally.
- Goalie Taylor Grollman has posted 81 saves on the season for a 10.82 GAA. Her 10.82 GAA ranks 39th nationally.
- Drexel enters the matchup with an 8-4 record, which includes a 2-2 conference slate. The Dragons have faced a competitive schedule thus far, facing off against four competitors either in the Top 25 or receiving votes.
- Of their ranked opponent matchups, they have gone 1-3, posting a win over No. 19 Johns Hopkins, while dropping to RV Penn State, No. 6 Maryland, and No. 6 Stony Brook.
