Jamie Wei Named Recipient of NCAA Women’s Enhancement Scholarship

PHILADELPHIA – Temple tennis graduate-student Jamie Wei was named a recipient of the NCAA Women's Enhancement Graduate Scholarship, the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics and the NCAA Minority Opportunity and Interests Committee announced this week.

Wei was one of only 13 female student-athletes selected nationwide who met the proper criteria for the award. The NCAA states that all applicants must have an overall undergraduate minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2, while also in their final season of NCAA athletics eligibility.

"I'm very proud of Jamie and all her accomplishments on and off the court here," head tennis coach Steve Mauro said. "She has been a pleasure to work with and has exemplified Temple in the best way possible. I know she will go on to do great things in the future."

While achieving in the classroom, Wei has also been dominant on the court for the Owls. She and doubles partner Maiko Uchijima are currently ranked No. 8 in the nation for their work in doubles with a 28-1 record this season. They haven't lost since the quarter-final round of the ITA National Tournament this past fall to a top Michigan duo. In singles play, she has a 20-4 overall record.

Now a captain for the Owls, Wei is tasked to lead her team into the conference tournament next week.
