Women’s Tennis to Host Georgetown on Friday for Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's tennis (15-4) will host the Georgetown Hoyas (11-8) on Friday, April 14 at the TU Pavilion. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and will serve as senior day honoring both Jamie Wei and Ginevra Peiretti for their accomplishments with Temple.

THE OWLS:

Temple is riding a five-game win streak into the match with Georgetown on Friday. They most recently defeated Villanova on April 4 by a final score of 5-2 on the Wildcat's home courts.
Graduate-student Jamie Wei was just named one of only 13 student athletes around the country to be named a recipient of the NCAA Women's Enhancement Graduate Scholarship in recognition of her work both on and off the court.
In the most recent match against Villanova, both Veronika Kulhava and Evie Wei picked up their tenth singles victory of the spring. As a doubles team, Kulhava and Wei have a 12-4 record and are 12-3 from the second position.
Graduate-student Ginevra Peiretti will also be recognized for her accomplishments with Temple before this match. The Turin, Italy native has one victory in her short stint with the Owls coming against Norfolk St. on Feb. 25, 2023.

SCOUTING GEORGETOWN

Georgetown women's tennis is on a two-game skid most recently dropping a close match to Delaware on Saturday, April 8.
The Hoyas are 4-3 in the Big East Conference play and will end their regular season schedule against Big East foe Villanova on Saturday, April 15 after visiting Temple on Friday.
Olivia Ashton and Agata Mikos both lead Georgetown with four wins apiece in singles play this spring. Ashton is 3-1 in the third position while Mikos is 4-3 from the second. The duo of Mikos and Ashton also frequently serves as the first doubles team for the Hoyas.
Friday afternoon will mark the fifth ever meeting between both Georgetown and Temple's women's tennis teams. The Hoyas have the advantage four games to Temple's one in the series. Most recently, Georgetown defeated the Owls by a final score of 4-3 on March 6, 2020, in Washington, D.C.
