Women’s Tennis Moving On – Set to Face No. 1 SMU on Thursday

ORLANDO, FL – No. 9 Temple women's tennis is set to face No. 1 SMU in the second round of the AAC Tournament on Thursday morning, April 20, at 9:00 a.m. The Mustangs are coming off a bye in round one after completing their spring schedule with a 13-8 record while going 4-0 in conference play.

SCOUTING SMU:

The Mustangs finished their season winning four of their last five games against all ranked opponents. They're currently on a two-game winning streak after beating No. 25 San Diego and No. 39 UCF. The 4-2 win against Central Florida helped SMU claim the No. 1 seed in the AAC tournament thanks to the ITA rankings.
Coming into the AAC Tournament, SMU was the No. 35 team in the country.
Throughout the course of the season, the Mustangs had three athletes be named AAC Women's Player of the Week: No. 80 Hadley Doyle, Taylor Johnson, and Drew Morris.
SMU's lineup is led by Hadley Doyle who has a 9-3 record from the first position of singles play and is 5-0 in her last five matches.
Taylor Johnson (10-4), Lana Mavor (12-3), and Drew Morris (13-3) are also atop the scoring sheet for the Mustangs.
The pairing of Hadley Doyle and Lana Mavor have collected the most victories this season with a 10-4 record in doubles play for SMU. They are 4-2 from the second position and 6-2 from the third.
Thursday will mark only the third time that the Mustangs and Owls have faced off. Both prior matches were won by SMU with the most recent meeting being on April 18, 2018 with a 4-0 final.
