Ethan Whitney Finishes 5th at AAC Championship

BELLEAIR, Fla. – The Temple Men's Golf team finished their season in Belleair, Florida at the American Athletic Conference Championship this weekend (April 21-23). The nine-team event was held at the Pelican Golf Club, which is a par-70, 6,881-yard course. The tournament consisted of 54 holes over a three-day period.
Recapping the Round
> Sophomore Ethan Whitney had one of the best weekends in Temple history since the Owls joined the AAC. Whitney posted a two-over 72 on Sunday. Whitney finished at two-under 208 and in 5th place. Whitney joined former Owl, Brandon Matthews, as the only two Temple golfers to finish under par at the AAC Championship. Matthews, a current member of the PGA Tour, posted a three-under in 2015-16 and finished in 5th place.
> Senior Conor McGrath posted a Sunday score of six-over 76. McGrath finished at five-over 215 and in a tie for 17th place.
> Junior Graham Chase posted a Sunday score of four-over 74. Chase finished at 13-over 223 and in 39th place.
> Junior Andrew Curran posted a Sunday score of seven-over 77. Curran finished at 25-over 235 and in 41st place.
> Sophomore Joey Morganti posted a Sunday score of four-over 74. Morganti finished at six-over 146. Due to Morganti entering the lineup on Saturday, he was not eligible for the individual leaderboard.
History Made
> This season marks the first time in Temple history that three golfers (Chase, McGrath, and Whitney) have posted stroke averages of 73 or lower.
