Lacrosse Set to Travel to Vanderbilt for Last Regular Season Test

PHILADELPHIA – Temple lacrosse (7-8, 2-3 AAC) is set to travel to Nashville, Tenn., to face off against Vanderbilt (3-11, 1-4 AAC) in their final regular season contest of the year. Game time is set for 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

The matchup between Temple and Vanderbilt marks the ninth time the teams' have met in program history, with an all-time record of 5-3. The two last met in the 2022 American Athletic Conference semifinals, where Vanderbilt prevailed, 11-10 (OT).

- The Owls enter the matchup on a two-game winning streak, defeating Old Dominion 19-5 on Apr. 15, before downing East Carolina 11-7 on Apr. 22 to advance to 2-3 in conference play.
- Three Owls earned three Player of the Week honors from the conference after their stellar performance over ECU. Belle Mastropietro was tabbed Midfielder of the Week while Katie Shallow earned Defensive Player of the Week and Taylor Grollman was named Goalkeeper of the Week.
- After posting five points against the Pirates, Mastropietro remains at the top of the Owls statistical categories, leading in goals (37), assists (19), points (56) and draw controls (86). Her 5.73 draw controls per game ranks second in the AAC and 28th nationally, while her 2.47 goals per game ranks sixth in the conference.
- Shallow and Maddie Barber have continued to lead the defensive unit, combining for 74 groundballs and 41 caused turnovers. Shallow leads in both categories with 2.67 groundballs per game and 1.53 caused turnovers per game, ranking third in the conference in both categories.
- Grollman had a standout game in the cage for the Cherry and White, posting a career-best 14 saves in the 11-7 over East Carolina. Grollman now advances to 109 saves on the year.
- Mackenzie Roth, Camryn Zavacky, Julie Schickling and Maeve Tobin have all been instrumental in the offensive success, tallying 35, 28, 25 and 22 points respectively. Schickling ranks second on the squad in goals with 25, while Tobin and Roth have each secured 19. Zavacky has been a versatile force, dishing out 16 assists while adding 12 goals.
- Vanderbilt enters the matchup with a 3-11 record which includes a 1-4 conference slate. Each of the Commodores three wins have come on their home turf.
- Despite a losing record, Vanderbilt posted two notable wins in an 11-10 victory over No. 25 Colorado and a 10-9 win over Penn State.
- Sophomore Attacker Nancy Halleron leads the team in goals (21) and points (26), while Paige Finneran and Bri Gross rank second in points, each with 23.
- Junior Taylor Sampone has been an instrumental piece of the defensive unit, leading the team with 17 caused turnovers while also adding 27 groundballs.
- Goalkeeper Paige Gunning has clocked 104 saves on the year, while also adding 54 groundballs and causing 14 turnovers. Her 54 groundballs leads the conference with 3.86 per game.
- Gross, Meghan Mangines and Kayla Rieu have served on the draw team, combing for 88 draw controls as a unit.
