Laura Nicholson’s Historic Season Continues at NCAA East Regional

Jacksonville, Fl- Temple track & field program record holders Allie Riches and Laura Nicholson competed Thursday evening in the NCAA East Preliminary.
Riches competed in the pole vault where she cleared the first two bars, earning a mark as high as 3.97m (13 1-4 ft). She did not clear 4.12m (13-6 ¼ ft), placing 23rd in a field of 48.
Nicholson earned fifth place in the 1500m and 12th overall with a time of 4:20.54. Her top five finish qualified her for the 1500m quarterfinals on Saturday at 5:15. She is the first Temple athlete since 2021 to advance out of the preliminaries and the first Temple athlete since Blanca Fernandez in 2015 to advance to in the 1500m.
