Frumholz earns the program's first-ever first-team honor; the school's six-ever
PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's tennis player Thibault Frumholz capped his final season and amazing Temple career by earning College Sports Communicators (CSC) First Team Academic All-American honors.
"I am honored to be named First Team Academic All-American and glad to see that all the hard work and dedication, on and off the court, paid off," expressed Frumholz. "It wouldn't have been possible without this amazing Temple Tuff team."
Temple Head Coach Steve Mauro also noted Frumholz's passion and perseverance.
"I am so happy that Thibault has been recognized as an Academic All-American," said Mauro. "He is the epitome of what it means to be a student-athlete as he excels in the classroom and on the courts. He ranks among the winningest players in program history and now becomes the first Temple men's tennis player to earn this high academic honor."
The Strasbourg, France native became first player in Owls' tennis program history to earn the coveted award, while becoming the sixth student-athlete in Temple history to earn first team accolades. The last time any Temple student-athlete was named First Team Academic All-America was men's soccer standout J.T. Noone in 2009.
In 2022-23, Frumholz and his partner Leo Raquin ended the season with a No. 9 ranking in the Atlantic region. The duo's 17 wins ranked third most in Owls' single-season history and earned their highest ITA national season ranking of No 81 on April 4.
The Temple standout won combined 84 matches between dual singles and doubles, placing him in a tie for fifth all-time in school history. His 40 singles wins are tied for sixth all-time in school history and his 44 doubles are fifth all-time.
Frumholz maintained a high academic standing throughout his time at Temple. The mechanical engineering graduate was a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete, a two-time AAC All-Academic Team and PhillySIDA Academic All-Area honoree.
CSC's (formerly CoSida) Academic All-America program began in 1952 and currently sponsors programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball and men's and women's track and field/cross country, men's and women's tennis as well as student-athletes who compete in other sports through the At-Large program.
