Owls Fall to Saint Joseph's in Home Opener

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple men's soccer team fell Saint Joseph's 3-1 in their home opener Monday night, dropping them to 0-1-2 on the season. Gudmundur Neilsson scored for the Owls for his first career goal, hitting the net off a corner kick in the 59th minute.
How it Happened
> The Hawks scored the only goal of the first half in the 33rd minute. They added two more in the first 12 minutes of the second half.
> Neilsson found the net with a header off an assist from Xavier Rimpel. It was his only shot attempt of the game.

> Both Temple goals this season have been scored by freshmen. Neilsson joins Nikolai Zapolskikh as scorers for the Owls.
> Temple outshot Saint Joe's 13-11, but the Hawks finished with eight shots on goal to the Owls' five.
> George Medill led the Owls with four shot attempts.
> There were six yellow cards and one red card handed out in the match, all but one given to Saint Joe's.
