Freshman Earns First Honor of 2023
PHILADELPHIA- Temple men's soccer freshman Nikolai Zapolskikh has been named Philly Soccer Six Defensive Player of the Week. Zapolskikh is the first Owl to recieve a weekly honor this season, and does so in the first week of reporting for the Soccer Six.
Zapolskikh scored the Owls' lone goal in their 1-1 tie last Monday at Lehigh, and helped anchor a defense that did not allow a goal in regulation. His first career goal was one of his team leading five shots through two games this season. His DPOW honors add to an American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll selection announced on Monday.
Temple will contest its first Philly Soccer Six match tonight when they host Saint Joseph's at the Temple Sports Complex at 7:00pm.
