Temple Golf Opens 2023-24 Season at Cornell Fall Invitational

WACHTUNG, N.J. - The Temple Golf team will open its 2023-24 season this weekend at the Cornell Fall Invitational.  The Owls, who are the defending champions, will be one of 11 teams competing for the title at the par-72 course, 6,652-yard Watchung Valley Golf Club.  The two-day, 36-hole tournament will start Sunday morning.
Scouting the Owls
> Senior Graham Chase and junior Ethan Whitney are the Owls' top returnees.  Chase posted three Top 10 finishes overall last season while leading the Owls with a 72.31 stroke average.  Whitney was right behind, posting a 72.60 stroke average while recording three Top 5 finishes including a win at the Cornell/Temple Fall Invite at The 1912 Club.
> Three transfers, sophomores Aidan Emmerich (Michigan State) and Jake Haberstumpf (Moravian) and junior Michael Walsh (Lafayette), cracked the Owls initial lineup in a highly competitive competition for the Owls starting five at the Cornell Fall Invitational.
> Senior Andrew Curran, who was fourth on the squad in stroke average (76.19) last season, will compete as an individual as well.

The Field
> Besides the Owls and host Cornell, nine other schools will be in the field: Binghamton, Bucknell, Canisius, Colgate, Saint Francis (Pa.), Saint Joseph's, Siena, and St. Bonaventure, and Temple.
> Two years ago, Temple won the Cornell Fall Invitational at the Wachtung Valley Golf Club with Whitney placing second on the team (behind Conor McGrath (2nd overall) and fourth in the field with a two-under 140.

Quotable
"We are really looking forward to starting the season.   We are a very deep team with a lot of talent, and I look forward to watching them progress throughout the year." – Temple head coach Brian Quinn
