Women’s Basketball Hosts Former A-10 Rival Charlotte for Autism Awareness Game

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team (9-8, 3-2 AAC) will reunite with former Atlantic-10 rival Charlotte 49ers (12-6, 5-1 AAC) on the court Sunday at The Liacouras Center at 1 p.m. (ESPN+/Varsity Network App). Temple and Charlotte shared a home in the Atlantic-10 from 2005-2013. Tickets are available to purchase at Owlstix.com.
PROMOTIONS:
> Post game autographs: Post-game autographs from Temple women's basketball student-athletes will be available to all fans with the purchase of a ticket on the concourse following the game.
> Autism Awareness: This is Temple women's basketball's annual autism awareness game. Special needs children from around the Delaware Valley region are invited, with features including two sensory rooms, and autism facts throughout the contest. T-shirts will be given away to the first 500 fans in attendance.

> Temple fell to the Memphis Tigers, 59-57 Sunday in Liacouras Center.
> Temple trailed for nearly the entire contest after falling behind in the first frame. The Owls trailed by nine points with under two minutes remaining but executed a strong comeback effort in the final minute to get the ball back with a few seconds remaining on the clock. Tristen Taylor's final heave off the rim sealed the win for Memphis.
> Aleah Nelson scored in double-figures for the sixth straight game with a game-high 19 points. Her five made three pointers tie the season-high for any Owl.
THE OWLS
> Temple currently ranks 4th in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game (17.4) and 16th in turnover margin (+6.06). The Owls also rank second in the AAC in assist/turnover ratio (+1.01) and are first in the conference in turnovers per game (14.2).
> Tiarra East (11.9/20th) and Aleah Nelson (12.6/16th) both rank in the top 20 of the AAC in points per game.
> Nelson stands out in ball distribution as well, ranking first in the conference in assist/turnover ratio (+2.11) and third in assists per game (4.5). She is only five points away from becoming the 10th player in program history to score 1500 career points. She will be the second in program history with 1500 points and 500 assists. Only five players in the nation have more combined points and assists than Nelson.
> On the boards, Rayne Tucker ranks 8th the AAC in rebounds per game with 7.5.
SCOUTING CHARLOTTE
> Two years ago, Charlotte took the Conference USA title to advance to the NCAA tournament. Last season, the 49ers stumbled to a 12-19 record including 7-13 in C-USA. This is their first season in the American.
> This season, Charlotte is 12-6 including a 5-1 record in the American. The team is 7-2 in its last nine games. The squad is currently first place in the AAC standings.
> Dazia Lawrence is the headliner for Charlotte. The guard has followed up earning 2023 First Team C-USA honors with a tremendous campaign thus far. The guard is third in the AAC in scoring (18.2 ppg) and one of only four players in the conference with multiple 30+ point games. She began the conference season with four straight games scoring over 20 points.
> Cara Consuegra leads Charlotte in her 13th season with the program. She is the rare coach who has led her program through three different conferences (A-10, C-USA, AAC). Consuegra coached against Temple three times when the two shared a home in the A-10, she has a record of 1-2 against Temple and is 221-160 overall at Charlotte.
