Women’s Basketball Closes Out Midwest Roadtrip with Wichita State

WICHITA, Ks. – The Temple women's basketball team (8-7, 2-1 AAC) will look to build on its impressive win at Tulsa on Saturday as the Cherry & White head to Wichita State (5-10, 1-2 AAC) this Tuesday at 7 p.m. The game will air on ESPN+ and The Varsity Network App.

LAST TIME OUT: Temple 58 @ Tulsa 48
> Temple scored a huge conference road win over American Athletic Conference leaders Tulsa, 58-48 on the road.
> After a competitive first quarter, Tulsa built a 12-point lead midway through the third frame. The Owls found their footing again, winning the second half by 19 points, including a +11 margin in the fourth quarter, to secure the win.
> The veteran-freshman point guard attacked of Aleah Nelson (17 points) and Tristen Taylor (15 points) combined for 32 of Temple's 58 points. Taylor also tied her career-high in rebounds with seven, while Demi Washington also tied her career-high in boards with nine.

THE OWLS
>Temple ranks top ten in Division I in offensive rebounds per game (17.9/4th) and turnover margin (+7.93/9th). The team tops the conference in assist to turnover ratio (+1.09) and turnovers per game (13.0).
> Nelson is scoring 12.3 points per game, she has scored in double-figures in each of the last four games, averaging 16.5 ppg in that span. The guard ranks 13th in Division I among active players in assists with 524, one behind Sophia Wiard of Toledo. She is one of only six players in Division I with at least 500 assists and 1400 points.
> Tiarra East has led Temple in scoring since early December with 12.6 ppg. The wing has now scored in double figures in eight straight games she has played in, averaging 15.0 points during that stretch. In her last four games she in pulling down 5.3 rpg. She is one of only nine players in the AAC who has scored at least 20 points three times. East missed last game due to injury.
> Rayne Tucker leads the team in crashing the glass with 7.4 rebounds per game. She has scored in double figures in six of the last eight games and is tied for third in the American with four double-doubles.

SCOUTING WICHITA STATE
> Following an 18-15 season last year and a WNIT berth, Wichita State elected to choose a new leader for the program in former Kansas assistant Terry Nooner.
> This season, the Shockers are 5-10. They have lost six of the last seven games, with the lone win coming over Tulane, 63-60 in the conference opener.
> A large portion of Wichita State's points comes from three players. Tre'Zure Jobe leads the team with 12.3 points and 2.7 assists per game. Daneila Abies adds 12.0 points and a team leading 7.5 rebounds per contest with Salese Blow contributing 10.1 ppg.

 SERIES HISTORY
> Temple and WSU have played each other every season since Wichita State joined the AAC in 2017. The Owls are 8-5 all time against the Shockers. The two sides met once prior to sharing a conference in 1983.
> Temple took three straight after Wichita State won the first conference meeting between the two in 2018.
> The two sides played three times last season including in the AAC Tournament, with the Shockers holding an 8-5 advantage.
> Aleah Nelson starred in the latter two matches, with the guard putting up a combined 38 points, 13 assists, and eight rebounds.
