Donabedian, Schugman, Dorunda Capture Event Titles at the West Virginia Dual

MORGANTOWN, W.V. – With their second meet in three days, the Temple Owls gymnastics team traveled to Morgantown, W.V. for the West Virginia Dual meet. On Sunday, seniors Brooke Donabedian, Renee Schugman, and junior Madison Dorunda captured event titles leading the Owls to a 191.900 score. The Mountaineers won the dual meet with a 193.800.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Temple gymnastics team will be on the road next Sunday, Jan. 14 at George Washington for a quad meet. The action begins at 1 p.m. ET.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In just her second meet on the vault, Dorunda earned the win with a career-best 9.775.
- Schugman also picked up her first-ever championship over on the beam leading a trio of Owls' with 9.8s on the day.
- Donabedian was the only floor gymnast during the meet with a 9.8 or better. Her 9.825 marked her 26th career 9.8-plus score.
- Nine Owls turned in top-five performances.
- Sarah Stallings led the Owls with her second straight 9.8-plus score to start the 2024 season as she scored a team-high 9.8.
- The 9.8 score also marks the 17th time her three-year career scoring in the 9.8 range.
- Hannah Weklar made her collegiate debut on bars in rotation one.
- Dorunda's 9.775 score marks a career-high and the second straight 9.7 or better score to start the season on vault.
- Donabedian's floor exercise win marks her eighth-career floor championship.
- Freshman Payton Monk and Dorunda had solid performances on the floor. Monk finished in a tie for second place with a 9.775, while Dorunda finished tied for fifth with a 9.750.
- Senior Renee Schugman ended the Owls' day with a 9.800 on her way to her first career beam championship.
- Dorunda tied for third place with a 9.775, while teammates Sarah Stallings and Donabedian tied for fifth with 9.75s.
