Ospitale, Rieger Honored by BIG EAST

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Isabella Ospitale was named the Defensive Player of the Week and Peyton Rieger was named to the honor roll as the BIG EAST announced its weekly conference awards on Tuesday afternoon.
Ospitale played every minute in goal for the Owls in a 2-0 week where Temple defeated a pair of ranked opponents. She delivered her second consecutive shutout, stopping four shots along the way against No. 18 Old Dominion, the first win for the Owls against the Monarchs since 2016. She also earned the win in a 3-2 victory against No. 20 Monmouth, making three saves. For the week, she had seven saves, a .778 save percentage and a 0.91 goals against average.
Rieger had a goal and an assist during the week. On Friday against ODU, the junior tracked down a long ball on the right side of the field, made a sharp turn along the baseline and delivered a perfect pass to set up the game-winning goal in overtime. On Sunday against Monmouth, Rieger made a similar play along the end line to score the game-tying goal in the fourth quarter.
The Owls return to action on Friday when they travel to No. 18 Liberty. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
