PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's soccer team defeated Mercyhurst 2-0 in a highly competitive matchup on Tuesday night at Temple Sports Complex. Lukas Egarter assisted on both goals, helping TU secure the crucial victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Nathan Brown got off to a quick start, registering two shots in the first 11 minutes.
Flannan Riley stood strong in goal throughout the match with three saves in each half.
Nikolai Zapolskikh found the back of the net first for the Owls in the 53rd minute with an assist from Lukas Egarter.
TU got back on the scoreboard in the 58th minute with a goal from Nathan Brown, hauling in a long pass from Egarter to extend the Temple lead.
Temple's backline held firm in the 80th minute, denying Mercyhurst three scoring opportunities.

BY THE NUMBERS

Zapolskikh's goal was the second of his career, his first coming last season in Temple's match against Lehigh.
With his two assists, Egarter has four total points this season, tying Xavier Rimpel for the most on the team.
This was Flannan Riley's second clean sheet of the season, previously doing so in TU's match against Akron (Sept. 14).
This is the second consecutive match and the fourth overall that Temple has allowed zero goals.
Following this match, Temple leads the conference in save percentage with an average of .790.
Nathan Brown recorded season highs in shots and shots on goal with four of each.
