10.21.24 | Men's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA - Â After wins against Mercyhurst and UAB, forward Nathan Brown was named the AAC Freshman of the Week while Kemali Green, Andrew Kempe and Lukas Egarter were all named to the AAC Honor Roll.
Nathan Brown competed in both of Temple's matches this week against Mercyhurst (Oct. 15) and against UAB (Oct. 19). Brown found the back of the net in the 58th minute to provide Temple the two goal advantage against Mercyhurst. Brown also tallied three other shots on goal, setting a season-high. Against UAB, Brown provided power to the Temple offense as the Owls won their second consecutive match.
Andrew Kempe was in goal for Temple's in-conference match against UAB. He compiled two saves, including an impressive diving save in the 26th minute to clinch his second straight clean sheet and his third overall this season. This was the third time this season that UAB has been held scoreless as Temple joined Memphis and No. 7 North Carolina.
Kemali Green played a crucial role in each match as he anchored the Owl defense keeping both UAB and Meryhurst off the scoreboard. Temple's backline had numerous stops in each match as the Owl defense applied pressure from start to finish.
Lukas Egarter played pivotal roles in each of Temple's wins this past week. Egarter recorded assists on each Temple goal against Mercyhurst in a 2-0 victory. Notably, his second assist came from a long ball which set up Nathan Brown to score, providing Temple the two-goal advantage. Against UAB, Egarter again played a decisive role. Egarter placed a free kick into the box in the 57th minute, opening up space for Xavier Rimpel to fire in the match-clinching goal. The Owls now hold sole possession of sixth place in the AAC, firmly in the picture for the AAC Championship.
Temple is set to close out its home slate against Florida International on Saturday afternoon from Temple Sports Complex. The action is set to start at 2:00 p.m.
